Everything went smoothly. Kevin came out quickly to do the estimate. He was very understanding as we made some changes from the original proposal to get the project in our budget and needs. This did take some time and a couple times I followed up again because I hadn’t heard anything, but overall Kevin is very responsive by email, phone, or text. Once everything with the bid was squared away, the project moved really fast. The whole project was done in less than a week, and over a month before we needed it to be done for a birthday party we are hosting. The patio itself looks amazing and we have already received so many compliments. Kevin and Mike had some great ideas that I’m glad they shared because they know what they’re doing and it shows. I can’t say enough about how clean the crew kept the rest of our yard. I really expected the whole project would be messy but they obviously were careful to keep it clean and clean up after themselves. All the guys were friendly and respectful. I entered this project with a lot of uncertainty. I needed to replace my entire driveway, which is on a steep hill and requires electric heater mats installed within the concrete. Kevin Jones was truly amazing. He was dedicated to doing the job right and in a timely manner – he was concerned about our schedule and did everything to accomodate it. Once the job was started, the crew that worked on our driveway was equally as diligent – they would show up early in the morning and sometimes work 12 hour days…concrete work is very weather dependent… and they went out of their way to follow the predictions and work accordingly to get the job done efficiently and effectively. The crew was as hardworking and as courteous as I’ve ever seen…the driveway and steps are perfect. No complaints whatsoever! The paver work was painstakingly performed, again, by a great crew. We love our new entryways – they blend beautifully with the architecture of our home – a rather eccentric, older home that lends itself to the old world look of pavers – thanks to the suggestion by Kevin. We LOVE our new driveway! Kevin’s quote was for 5 inch thick concrete with re-bar reinforcement (previously there was no re-bar). Right from my first contact I was struck by his professionalism in all our communications. He answered all questions patiently and was willing to come out multiple times to meet with us. He also accomodated our schedule for the work, as we had a narrrow window in which the job needed to get done. Initially I mentioned that last winter both my husband and I had fallen on the ice, in the steepest part of the driveway, and that we were interested in any options to change the angle, even incrementally. Kevin contacted the city of Urbandale and got permission to raise the water valve, which is in the middle of the sidewalk close to the bottom the driveway, by 4 inches. By adding crushed rock at the foot of the new driveway, and scraping away some soil toward the middle of the span to be covered, PRF built us a driveway that has a continuous slope and is not nearly as steep as previously. They also added texture to give more traction in the winter time. The changed angle will make access to this house much safer, and the new driveway has added enormously to the curb appeal!
